It is Not Too Late to Make a Difference!

Friends and Family,

A HUGE thank you to those of you who have already contributed.
If you haven't made a donation yet but would still like to support me in this endeavor you can still do so. Everyone knows how competitive I am and only you can help me be the top fundraiser on my team! A little friendly competition among team members means more dollars in the door for the Lance Armstrong Foundation!

Last year several of our friends were diagnosed with cancer. Others, including Brenda Coverdell, my mom's best friend, lost their battle with the disease.

It’s a helpless feeling, watching a friend or family member deal with the physical and emotional effects of cancer. We offer hopes and prayers, but that doesn’t seem like enough. In memory of Brenda, and in support of our friends who are in the midst of a battle with cancer, I am going to do something to help. I am participating in the LIVESTRONG Challenge in Portland this September, riding the 70 mile bike ride to raise money for the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

The Lance Armstrong Foundation was founded to provide practical information and tools for people living with cancer. The Foundation's mission is to inspire and empower people affected by cancer through advocacy, public health and research programs. The Foundation supports the belief that unity is strength, knowledge is power and attitude is everything.

More than 10 million Americans are currently living with, through or beyond cancer, and more than 1.3 million people in the U.S. will be diagnosed with cancer this year. One in three people will be diagnosed with cancer during their lifetime, and three in four families will care for a family member with cancer.(American Cancer Society, Cancer Facts and Figures 2004) Those who ignore the disease or assume that their lives won't be affected in some way by cancer are probably kidding themselves. I am very grateful to have a healthy family and I never want to take that for granted.

Please support me by making a donation to this cause.

Sonja
